It has been over 75 years since World War II ended, but the search for the remains of missing soldiers and pilots continues. Among those still missing is Air Force pilot Lieutenant John H. Liekhus, whose family has been searching for answers and closure for decades.
Lt. John H. Liekhus: A Promising Young Pilot
Lt. John H. Liekhus was a young and promising pilot in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was just 27 years old when he went missing in action on July 22, 1944, during a bombing mission over France. Lt. Liekhus was flying a B-26 Marauder with his crew when their plane was shot down by enemy fire. Despite extensive search efforts at the time, no sign of Lt. Liekhus or his crew was ever found.

For over seven decades, Lt. Liekhus’ family has been searching for answers about his fate and whereabouts.
