Ukraine Strikes Key Russian Oil Hub in Crimea as Zelenskyy Declares ‘Critical Phase’ in War
Ukraine hits a key Russian oil terminal in Crimea, with President Zelenskyy stating the war has entered a crucial phase. The strike aims to undermine Russia’s military capacity.
Ukraine’s military has launched a significant strike on an oil terminal in Crimea, a key source of fuel for Russia’s war effort. Ukrainian officials confirmed that the terminal in Feodosia, on the south coast of Russia-occupied Crimea, was targeted to weaken Russia’s military and economic potential. President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that the war is currently in a “very important phase,” urging continued pressure on Russian forces as the conflict shows no signs of ending.
Russia, now into its third year of war with Ukraine, continues to grapple with how to sustain its costly campaign. Ukraine has intensified its attacks on Russia’s rear supply areas, including oil depots and armories, to disrupt Russian operations, particularly in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian forces are also maintaining pressure in Russia’s Kursk border region, where they gained control two months ago.
Zelenskyy reiterated the importance of Western support and long-range weaponry, which Ukraine has repeatedly requested. The issue will likely be a key topic at the upcoming defense meeting at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, where 50+ partner nations coordinating military aid to Ukraine will gather. The Ukrainian President remains resolute that peace can only be achieved through strength.
Meanwhile, Russia responded with missile and drone attacks, targeting Kyiv and other Ukrainian areas. Ukraine’s air force reported that six missiles and 74 drones were launched, with debris causing minor damage in three districts of Kyiv. No casualties were reported, and Russia claimed to have shot down nearly two dozen Ukrainian drones overnight.
