Two Killed After Plane Crashes and Bursts Into Flames at Arizona Airport

Two people have died after a small aircraft crashed and caught fire at Marana Regional Airport in Arizona, authorities said Wednesday.

Officials reported that the plane veered off the runway before bursting into flames shortly after the incident. Marana Mayor Jon Post confirmed the fatal crash and said emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene.

According to city spokesperson Vic Hathaway, there were two people on board the aircraft at the time of the crash. Both victims died in the accident. Authorities have not yet released their identities.

Police confirmed that no other aircraft were involved in the incident and no additional injuries were reported.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said it has opened an investigation into the crash involving a Piper PA-32 aircraft to determine what caused the plane to leave the runway.

Marana Regional Airport is located about 20 miles northwest of Tucson in southern Arizona.

Investigators are expected to review flight data, aircraft condition, weather conditions and pilot information as part of the probe into the deadly crash.
