Trump Names Susie Wiles as First Female White House Chief of Staff
In a historic move, President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Susie Wiles, a seasoned Republican strategist, as the first female White House chief of staff. Wiles, known for her disciplined approach and political expertise, played a pivotal role in orchestrating Trump’s latest campaign success, receiving public praise from Trump during his victory speech in West Palm Beach, Florida.
“Let me also express my tremendous appreciation for Susie [Wiles] and Chris [LaCivita], on the job you did,” Trump said, highlighting Wiles’ tendency to work behind the scenes while calling her to the forefront. “Susie likes to stay in the background. She’s not in the background. The ice baby. We call her the ice baby.”
Trump lauded Wiles as “tough, smart, and innovative,” underscoring her wide respect and admiration in the political arena. As she steps into the role of chief of staff, Trump expressed confidence in her ability to uphold the position with honor, stating, “I have no doubt that she will make our country proud.”
Republican strategist John Brabender echoed Trump’s sentiments, calling Wiles the ideal choice for the role. “If they searched high and low in the entire world, there is not a better choice than Susie Wiles for White House chief of staff,” Brabender commented. He further emphasized Wiles’ strong rapport with Trump, describing her as someone who will work tirelessly to support his agenda. “Susie will have no other agenda than helping the president help people,” Brabender noted, emphasizing her commitment to selecting only the most qualified White House staff.
Wiles brings decades of political experience, with roots in Florida’s Republican scene. She managed Trump’s 2016 and 2020 campaigns in Florida, helping secure pivotal wins in the battleground state. Her political career extends back to serving as a campaign scheduler for former President Ronald Reagan’s 1980 bid. In addition to her work with Trump, Wiles managed Florida Governor Rick Scott’s successful 2010 campaign and briefly led Jon Huntsman’s 2012 presidential bid. She currently serves as senior adviser and campaign co-chair to Trump, alongside strategist Chris LaCivita.
The appointment comes after speculation that former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy might fill the chief of staff role. McCarthy recently dispelled the rumors, telling “The Guy Benson Show” that he would not accept the position if offered.
With this appointment, Wiles makes history as the first woman to take on the role of White House chief of staff, marking a significant milestone and setting the stage for a new chapter in Trump’s administration.
