Tiger Woods Undergoes Achilles Surgery, Will Miss Masters

Tiger Woods underwent a minimally invasive surgery on Tuesday to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon, ruling him out of the Masters and casting doubt on his participation in other major championships this year.

Woods shared the update on social media, revealing that he experienced sharp pain in his left Achilles while ramping up training at home. He confirmed that the surgery, performed by Dr. Charlton Stucken at the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, went smoothly. Recovery from such procedures typically requires at least a month before weight-bearing activities can resume.

The Masters, set for April 10-13, will be without Woods, who set a tournament record last year by making the cut for the 24th consecutive time. His last appearance in a major was the 2024 British Open, and he also played the PNC Championship with his son in December. Recently, Woods participated in the TGL indoor circuit, the 18-hole Seminole Pro-Member, and a round with former President Donald Trump.

Woods withdrew from the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines as he was still mourning the passing of his mother, Kultida, on February 4. His career has been plagued by injuries, including a serious right leg and ankle injury from a 2021 car crash and multiple back surgeries. His left Achilles has also troubled him in the past, causing withdrawals from major tournaments like The Players Championship in 2011.
