TELUS and NVIDIA Unveil Sovereign AI Factory to Power Canada’s AI Future

TELUS, in partnership with NVIDIA, announced plans to launch Canada’s first Sovereign AI Factory, a state-of-the-art facility designed to advance domestic AI technologies while maintaining data security within Canadian borders. The AI Factory will provide supercomputing capabilities and AI-as-a-Service (AIaaS) to businesses and researchers, boosting productivity and innovation.

The inaugural site in Quebec will leverage TELUS’ high-speed PureFibre network and sustainable data centers powered by 99% renewable energy. With NVIDIA’s latest Hopper- and Blackwell-based supercomputers, the facility will enable advanced AI model training, fine-tuning, and inference capabilities. A planned expansion to British Columbia will further strengthen Canada’s AI infrastructure.

“Sovereign AI infrastructure is critical for every nation,” said Ronnie Vasishta, SVP of Telecom at NVIDIA. “TELUS, as the first North American Service Provider to become an NVIDIA Cloud Partner, is now empowering Canadian businesses to innovate at the pace of AI.”

This initiative reinforces TELUS’ leadership in AI, aligning with Canada’s national AI strategy. The company remains committed to ethical AI practices, having been the first Canadian telecom to sign the government’s AI Code of Conduct and achieving global recognition for responsible AI innovation.

With the Sovereign AI Factory, TELUS is investing in Canada’s AI future, fostering job creation, and ensuring the nation remains competitive in the evolving AI-driven economy.
