A 15-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday afternoon at Winnipeg’s Polo Park mall after allegedly brandishing and firing a handgun in a public area. The incident prompted a swift response from Winnipeg police, who arrived at the busy shopping center shortly before 3 p.m.
Police were alerted after several young males were reportedly seen with a handgun. Mall security confirmed the firearm had been discharged and monitored the suspects until officers arrived at the food court.
Two youths were taken into custody, and an airsoft pistol was seized. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
The 15-year-old has been charged with possession of a weapon and causing a disturbance. The second youth was released without charges.
