Sting has canceled his scheduled performance at the Bass Magazine Awards in California, where he was set to receive a lifetime achievement award, as well as several upcoming concerts this week. The decision, announced via the British singer’s Instagram, was made on the advice of his doctor due to illness.
The 73-year-old artist has postponed his shows in Phoenix, Arizona, and Wheatland, California, along with a performance at a record label’s anniversary concert. The Phoenix show, originally slated for January 24, will now take place on June 1, while the January 26 Wheatland concert has been rescheduled for May 28. The Cherrytree Music Company’s 20th-anniversary event, also featuring Shaggy, will now happen on May 29.
Fans are advised to hold onto their tickets as they will remain valid for the new dates. Sting extended his apologies for the cancellations and expressed gratitude for fans’ understanding.
Best known as the frontman of The Police, Sting’s iconic hits include “Roxanne,” “Message In A Bottle,” and “Every Breath You Take.” His successful solo career boasts chart-topping albums and singles like “All For Love” and “Englishman In New York.” In 2022, he sold his music catalog to Universal Music Publishing Group, joining the ranks of Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan.
