Panic ensued at Varanasi airport on Saturday night when a Canadian passenger aboard an IndiGo flight bound for Bengaluru claimed he was carrying a bomb, leading to immediate security measures. The flight, 6E 499, was grounded, and the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay for a thorough inspection. No explosive material was found during the security sweep.
The passenger, who made the bomb threat, was detained by security officials for questioning. According to Puneet Gupta, the Director of Varanasi Airport, the crew quickly informed Air Traffic Control (ATC), and the flight was delayed in line with standard security protocols. After clearance from security agencies, the flight resumed and departed for Bengaluru on Sunday morning.
