Air Canada is celebrating its standout employees with the prestigious Excellence Awards, recognizing individuals who serve as role models and exemplify leadership in their respective roles. The awards highlight the dedication and hard work of employees who continually strive to rise higher and demonstrate excellence across various departments.
Leslie Ann Vezina, Senior Director of Human Resources Centre of Excellence, Travel and Talent, explained the significance of the award, stating, “Being an Excellence Award recipient means your colleagues look up to you for leadership. It means you have the courage to show up as your best self, every single day. It means putting safety first, always. It means rolling up your sleeves, putting in the effort, and committing to Rising Higher, no matter what.”
The admiration is mutual, as employees also express their pride in working for the airline. Karen Lee Ann Glover, Lead Scheduler in Air Canada’s Crew Scheduling department, shared, “I have worked at Air Canada for 35 years and I have loved my job from the start and would never have thought about leaving the Scheduling department to work anywhere else.”
Silvana Cavallieri, a Service Director based in Montreal, is equally passionate about her work. “From teaching Initial Training to new flight attendants, to developing the Initial Training Program, to operating a Dreams Take Flight out of Halifax, and also operating Jetz flights, what I am most proud of is becoming a Service Director when I first started flying. I love that it allows me to set the tone for the flight, directly impacting the flight and everyone onboard.”
A unique aviation twist accompanies the awards: each of the 55 recipients will have their name emblazoned on the tail of Air Canada’s 787 Dreamliner, Fin 852, further commemorating their exceptional contributions to the airline.
