Smokey Robinson’s attorney has forcefully denied sexual assault and rape allegations leveled against the Motown legend by four former housekeepers in a $50 million lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. The plaintiffs, who allege assaults occurred between 2007 and 2024, claim Robinson repeatedly attacked them while they worked in his home. His wife, Frances Robinson, is also named for allegedly enabling the abuse.
Attorney Christopher Frost labeled the allegations “vile” and “false,” calling the lawsuit a ploy to extort an 85-year-old cultural icon. The plaintiffs’ legal team insists their clients’ accounts are truthful and claim Robinson’s acts were “despicable.” Each woman detailed years of alleged abuse, saying fear of retaliation and immigration consequences prevented them from speaking out or going to the police.
Robinson’s legal team plans to seek dismissal of the case, urging the public to withhold judgment as the case unfolds. The lawsuit includes claims of sexual battery, false imprisonment, and gender violence.
