A small aircraft flying from Iowa to Minnesota crashed into a home in Brooklyn Park, a Minneapolis suburb, on Saturday, killing at least one person. The single-engine SOCATA TBM7 caught fire upon impact, destroying the house, though its residents escaped unharmed, according to Brooklyn Park officials.
The aircraft had departed from Des Moines International Airport en route to Anoka County-Blaine Airport before plummeting into the residential area. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.
Videos circulating online show the plane in free fall before impact, followed by intense flames engulfing the house. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz stated that his team is closely monitoring the situation, expressing gratitude for first responders’ efforts.
