Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), known as Shi’ites, clashed with Nigerian soldiers during a protest against alleged injustices faced by Palestinians in Gaza.
A viral video on Friday showed a large gathering of Shi’ite protesters at Bannex, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja. The demonstration followed a security alert from the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, which warned its citizens of planned IMN protests in Abuja and other major cities.
The embassy highlighted potential protest sites, including Banex Plaza, Berger Junction, Unity Fountain, and key mosques in the capital.
