Shawn Levy, the Montreal-born filmmaker known for his impressive career in both blockbuster family films and action-packed thrillers, will be inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2025. Levy, who recently announced he will direct the highly anticipated Star Wars: Starfighter, is celebrated for his work on iconic films such as Big Fat Liar, the Night at the Museum franchise, and Deadpool.
The induction ceremony will take place on June 14, 2025, in Toronto, where Levy will join other notable inductees, including rock band Our Lady Peace, golf champion Mike Weir, and Four Seasons founder Isadore Sharp. This year’s inductees are being recognized for their significant contributions to shaping Canada’s cultural identity and global reputation.
Levy, who also serves as the producer of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, shared his reaction to the news during a recent Star Wars promotional event in Tokyo. “It’s cooler than the Hollywood Walk of Fame because it’s Canada,” he said, expressing his gratitude for the honor. Levy also noted that his Star Wars: Starfighter lead actor, Ryan Gosling, is also Canadian, joking about a possible “two-for-one deal” for the Walk of Fame.
Other inductees for 2025 include actor Tonya Williams, guitarist Liona Boyd, medical pioneer Dr. Tirone David, and War Child Canada founder Dr. Samantha Nutt. The Walk of Fame continues to honor exceptional Canadians for their global impact across various fields.
