Saudi Arabia Arrests Wife and Mother of Nigeria’s Notorious Bandit Leader Ado Aliero in Medina

Saudi Arabian authorities have reportedly arrested the wife and mother of Ado Aliero, a notorious leader among Nigeria’s armed bandits, in Medina. The women were allegedly living under false identities and apprehended during an intelligence-led operation linked to insurgent networks in Nigeria’s Northwest region.

Ado Aliero, infamous for orchestrating kidnappings and violent attacks in Zamfara and neighboring states, remains one of Nigeria’s most wanted criminals. His operations are believed to be supported by both local and international networks, raising concerns about the funding and influence of armed groups in the area.

Nigerian security agencies are cooperating with Saudi counterparts as investigations continue. While details about the women’s identities and roles have not been disclosed, sources indicate they may possess critical intelligence on Aliero’s whereabouts and financial dealings. This arrest marks a potential breakthrough in efforts to dismantle terror group leadership destabilizing northern Nigeria.

Ado Aliero was listed among 97 terror suspects by Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters in March 2024, with bounties placed on several individuals connected to him to combat rising violence in the northwest.
