Popular social media platform Reddit has gone down, leaving thousands of users unable to access the site or app. Over 10,100 reports were logged on DownDetector.com, with around 43% of users having trouble accessing the website, 38% reporting issues with the mobile app, and 19% citing server connection problems.
The outage, which began at approximately 2:25 p.m. EDT, left Reddit’s website displaying a blank screen with the message: “upstream connect error or disconnect/reset before headers. reset reason: connection timeout.” Attempts to refresh the mobile app led to the error message: “Please try again.”
Reddit’s status page and official X (formerly Twitter) account offered no immediate updates, frustrating users mid-conversation or browsing. The company has not yet issued a statement.
This marks Reddit’s third major outage in 2024, with previous ones occurring in January and February. As usual, the downtime sparked waves of reactions online, with many turning to platforms like DownDetector and X to vent their frustration—and joke about productivity potentially rising in Reddit’s absence.
