Princess Cruises Quietly Drops Canned Sodas from Plus and Premier Drink Packages

Princess Cruises has quietly updated its beverage policy, removing canned sodas from its popular Plus and Premier drink packages. The change, now reflected in the official descriptions, leaves only unlimited fountain sodas included for guests selecting these higher-tier options. Although no formal announcement was made, the cruise line confirmed the adjustment in response to passenger questions.

Initially, canned sodas weren’t included when the Plus and Premier packages launched, but they were added for a time before being quietly removed again. The shift is already in effect on some ships, with a fleet-wide rollout expected soon, leading to temporary inconsistencies in onboard offerings.

The decision, not officially explained, is believed to stem from cost and logistics related to stocking, storing, and recycling canned beverages. Individual cans of soda now cost approximately $3 plus an 18 percent gratuity, though guests with a Plus or Premier package receive a 25 percent discount.

Travelers seeking canned sodas as part of their plan can opt for the Classic Soda Package or Zero-Alcohol Package, which include a broader selection of non-alcoholic drinks. Guests may also bring up to 12 sealed 12-ounce cans onboard at embarkation.
