Sony’s PlayStation Network suffered a major outage, leaving tens of thousands of gamers unable to access online services, stores, and multimedia apps for several hours. The company confirmed Saturday that the issue had been resolved.
PlayStation acknowledged the outage on its social media platforms Friday night after users worldwide reported connectivity problems.
“Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue,” PlayStation stated in an update the following day. “We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience. All PlayStation Plus members will automatically receive an additional 5 days of service.”
Frustrated gamers flooded social media with complaints about error messages and login failures. “PSN down on a Friday night is criminal,” wrote a London-based user named Ramos on X.
Sony later addressed the concerns, confirming the outage without revealing its cause. The PlayStation website also reported issues with account management, gaming and social services, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Direct.
The incident follows a similar outage last October, when PlayStation Network services were down for several hours.
