Phil Collins, Oasis, Pink and Shakira Nominated for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2026 Induction

Phil Collins, Oasis, Pink and Shakira are among the 17 artists nominated for inclusion in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year.

The nominees also include Jeff Buckley, Lauryn Hill, Mariah Carey and Wu-Tang Clan, reflecting a wide range of musical styles from rock and soul to pop and hip hop.

Artists become eligible for nomination 25 years after releasing their first commercial recording. Oasis and Carey have both been nominated twice before, while Pink is newly eligible this year, 26 years after her debut single. Shakira’s nomination is also notable, as she could become one of only a small number of musicians from Latin America ever inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Wu-Tang Clan are the only hip-hop act nominated this year, following criticism from Kiss frontman Gene Simmons, who recently argued that hip-hop artists do not belong in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

First-time nominees include Jeff Buckley, Phil Collins, Melissa Etheridge, Lauryn Hill, INXS, New Edition, Pink, Shakira, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan.

Returning nominees are The Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis and Sade.

Phil Collins, who was inducted in 2010 as a member of Genesis, has now been shortlisted for his solo career, which includes hits such as In the Air Tonight, Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now) and Easy Lover. The 75-year-old musician has experienced serious health problems in recent years and now requires round-the-clock medical care.

Despite this, Collins has said he would love to tour again if his health allows and may return to the studio to complete unfinished music projects. His last major solo tour ran from 2017 to 2019, and he performed seated during Genesis’s reunion tour in 2021 and 2022.

Oasis will learn whether their recent reunion has strengthened their standing in the United States, a market they struggled to fully break during their peak years. Frontman Liam Gallagher has previously mocked the Hall of Fame, saying he had little interest in receiving an award from what he described as “some geriatric in a cowboy hat,” while joking that Mariah Carey deserved the honour more than Oasis.

Carey has now been nominated for the third consecutive year and has previously remarked that her lawyer was inducted into the Hall of Fame before she was.

Strong British representation continues this year with Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order and Sade all nominated again after earlier unsuccessful attempts. Sade has not toured or released a new album in more than 15 years.

A panel of voters will select between six and eight performers for induction. The final list of inductees will be announced in April, with the official ceremony set to take place in Cleveland, Ohio, later this autumn.
