Tereza Vanišová delivered a stellar performance, netting three goals in a 10-minute span to lead the Ottawa Charge to a 5-2 victory over the New York Sirens on Saturday in Newark, N.J. With this feat, Vanišová became the first player in PWHL history to score two hat tricks in a single season.
The game also featured a historic moment from New York’s Abby Roque, who scored the first-ever Michigan-style goal in PWHL history. Roque controlled the puck behind the net and executed a high wraparound shot past Ottawa goalie Gwyneth Philips, showcasing incredible skill and precision.
Vanišová’s offensive surge began in the final five minutes of the second period, where she scored twice to give Ottawa a 3-1 lead. Roque responded early in the third period to pull the Sirens within one, but Vanišová completed her hat trick just minutes later, restoring Ottawa’s two-goal cushion. Emily Clark sealed the victory with a goal midway through the final period.
Philips recorded 34 saves for Ottawa (9-1-4-10), while Corinne Schroeder stopped 26 shots for New York (5-4-4-12). The win keeps Ottawa’s playoff hopes alive as they now trail Minnesota by just two points for the final postseason spot.
