Ottawa police ticketed—but did not criminally charge—a driver who collided with a demonstrator outside a Tesla dealership on Carling Avenue Saturday afternoon. Authorities say the black BMW hit the pedestrian at around 3:21 p.m. while attempting to enter the parking lot, though they do not believe the driver intended harm.
The demonstrator was uninjured, and the driver was briefly arrested before being released with a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act. Witnesses reported around 40 to 50 protesters at the scene, with police already present and able to intervene swiftly.
This incident comes amid a wave of Tesla-related protests, fueled by growing criticism of CEO Elon Musk and his political influence. In recent days, Tesla dealerships in Hamilton and Montreal have been targeted, with vehicles vandalized and buildings defaced with paint.
