An Iranian-made drone hit Israel in the early hours of Friday leaving one person dead and at least 10 people Injured in a neighborhood close to the US Embassy in Tel Aviv.
The Israeli military says it has launched an investigation into the attack.
In a statement, it said initial findings indicated the explosion had been caused by the falling of an “aerial target”, which was not intercepted because of human error.
Iranian-backed Yemen’s Houthi militants have claimed responsibility for the attack.
The group announced earlier on social media that they would reveal details about a military operation that had targeted Tel Aviv.
The Israeli military said further that it was increasing air patrols to prevent more attacks, while the city’s mayor said they were on high alert, according to local media.
“The whole building shook,” Alon, a local resident, told Haaretz.
“My neighbours’ windows shattered, so I was sure something had hit the building. It was only when I went outside that I realized that several buildings had been damaged.”
The incident also came after the Israeli military confirmed the killing of a senior commander of the Hezbollah militia in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah and Israel have traded fire across the border since Hezbollah launched rockets a day after Israel began its military offensive on Gaza in response to Hamas’s deadly attack on Israel on 7 October.
