While much of New Brunswick is enjoying spring temperatures reaching into the double digits this week, northern regions are bracing for another blast of winter. Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings for Campbellton, Mount Carleton, and the Bathurst and Chaleur areas as a snowstorm approaches.
The weather alert forecasts as much as 15 centimetres of snow to fall overnight from Tuesday into Wednesday. Rain is expected to begin Tuesday evening before transitioning to snow later in the night or into the early morning hours. The storm could significantly impact travel and visibility in the affected regions.
Environment Canada notes there is some uncertainty surrounding the exact track of the weather system. A slight shift in its path could change the amount and type of precipitation, leading to higher or lower snowfall totals in different areas.
In addition to the snowfall warnings, special weather statements have been issued for the Acadian Peninsula and Miramichi regions. These areas may receive up to 10 centimetres of snow, adding to the seasonal contrast felt across the province.
As parts of southern New Brunswick begin to see signs of spring, including warmer temperatures and melting snow, the northern areas remain locked in wintry conditions, highlighting the province’s varied climate and geographic challenges.
