Nintendo has officially announced the Nintendo Switch 2, set for a June 5 release, bringing new communication and connectivity features to the popular gaming platform.
Revealed during a 60-minute Nintendo Direct presentation, the Switch 2 introduces a new “C” button on its Joy-Con controllers, unlocking “GameChat” for in-game voice communication and real-time screen sharing. A built-in microphone at the top of the console enhances voice interaction, offering a more social gaming experience.
The next-gen console will be backwards compatible with original Switch titles, though some games may face compatibility issues. Nintendo has also confirmed that first-generation Switch games will continue to be released through 2025.
Fans can get a first-hand look at the Switch 2 at “Switch 2 Experience” events in cities like Los Angeles, New York, London, and Paris starting this month.
