Nigeria is set to harness its vast energy potential and strengthen its position in the global energy market as the country seeks strategic investments to boost energy access.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, revealed this at the Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) Forum in Bridgetown, Barbados, where he engaged with global leaders on advancing energy solutions.
Edun urged international investors to collaborate with the Nigerian government in unlocking the nation’s energy sector. Speaking at the high-level event, he emphasized the importance of private sector participation in achieving universal energy access, noting that government funding alone is insufficient.
“Our reforms are designed to unlock private investment, improve market dynamics, and accelerate the transition to cost-reflective tariffs,” Edun stated.
Nigeria is also a key beneficiary of Mission 300, an initiative led by the World Bank and the African Development Bank, aimed at providing electricity to 300 million Africans. The country is leveraging this program to expand renewable energy infrastructure and improve electricity access for underserved communities.
Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, also participated in the forum, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to energy sector reforms. The SEforALL Forum convened policymakers, development partners, and energy experts to drive solutions for a just and inclusive energy transition.
According to Mohammed Manga, Director of Information and Public Relations, Nigeria stands at the forefront of an energy revolution, with Edun’s call to action marking the beginning of a new era of innovation and economic growth.
