The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking, declaring four key associates of Lagos drug kingpin, Alhaji Suleiman Aremu Ganiu, widely known as Barryshine (Ejeoto), wanted for their alleged involvement in a network of illicit drug operations.1 Barryshine himself is currently facing prosecution at the Federal High Court in Lagos, but these latest developments signal a significant escalation in the agency’s efforts to dismantle his entire organization.
A court order issued by Hon. Justice Akintayo Aluko of the Federal High Court, Lagos, on January 28, 2025, has authorized the NDLEA to publicly display the photographs of the four fugitives and solicit information regarding their whereabouts.2 The wanted individuals are Olarenwaju Ramon Abdulai (aka Alhaji Loyingbo), Oluwafemi Akande Abidoye (aka Igbono, Baba Eje, Ade Iwaya, Femi Iwaya), Olumuyiwa Olufemi Ilori (aka Murphy), and Alate Kafy Bakare Bukki of Kaffy Travels. The court order empowers the NDLEA to utilize public notices and all available channels to locate and apprehend these individuals, who are considered critical to the ongoing investigation.
The NDLEA’s pursuit of these individuals underscores the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug cartels and stemming the flow of narcotics within the country. Olarenwaju Ramon Abdulai (aka Alhaji Loyingbo) is wanted for his alleged involvement in multiple drug trafficking activities in concert with Barryshine. Oluwafemi Akande Abidoye (aka Igbono, Baba Eje, Femi Iwaya) is also being sought for his role in drug trafficking operations linked to Barryshine’s network.3 Olumuyiwa Olufemi Ilori (aka Murphy) is declared wanted for multiple drug trafficking offenses, further highlighting the scope of the alleged criminal enterprise. Finally, Alate Kafy Bakare Bukki of Kaffy Travels is wanted for involvement in drug-related activities connected to Barryshine.4
Barryshine, the Managing Director/CEO of Barryshine Suleiman Nigeria Ltd, was apprehended on August 26, 2024, after a two-year period during which he was under close surveillance by the NDLEA. His arrest followed four unsuccessful attempts to export cocaine to Saudi Arabia and Qatar through Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos between 2022 and 2024. While numerous individuals allegedly working as drug mules for Barryshine have been apprehended, prosecuted, and convicted, the kingpin himself is now facing a battery of criminal charges in court.
The NDLEA has issued a public appeal for assistance in locating the four wanted suspects. Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is urged to contact the nearest NDLEA Command, utilize the toll-free helpline (080010203040), or reach out through the agency’s official social media channels: Instagram, X, and TikTok (@ndlea_nigeria); Facebook (@ndlea01); and YouTube (@ndleatv). The agency has reiterated its unwavering resolve to combat drug trafficking and safeguard the nation from the scourge of illicit substances. This latest operation demonstrates the NDLEA’s proactive approach to disrupting drug networks and bringing those involved in these criminal activities to justice. The pursuit of these four individuals represents a crucial step in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking in Nigeria.
