Nigeria Association of Manitoba (NAMI) Celebrates Nigeria’s 64th Independence in Grand Style
The Nigeria Association of Manitoba (NAMI) hosted an unforgettable celebration on Saturday, October 5, 2024, to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day. Held at 190 Rupert Ave, Winnipeg, the event brought together Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to honor the rich history, culture, and achievements of the Nigerian community.
The evening, which ran from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, was a vibrant showcase of Nigerian culture, featuring authentic cuisine, traditional dances, and cultural displays that kept attendees engaged throughout the night. Guests were treated to the flavors of classic Nigerian dishes and drinks, offering an authentic taste of Nigeria right in the heart of Winnipeg. Also, highlights of the day included the showcase of culture through performances from the Umunna, Yoruba and hausa groups.
In attendance were notable members of the Nigerian community and friends of the Nigerian community here in Manitoba.
The celebration also provided a platform for networking and building connections, as attendees enjoyed an atmosphere filled with unity and a sense of pride in Nigeria’s history. The event highlighted the importance of community and celebrated not only Nigeria’s past but also its future, with a focus on optimism and progress.
NAMI President, Victoria Keyede said the event kicked off on the first of October 2024, with flag raising and brief celebration at the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba . She expressed appreciation to all present.
NAMI continues to foster strong ties within the Nigerian community in Manitoba, encouraging members to embrace their heritage while contributing to a brighter future for all.
