Netflix has restored its service in the United States after a six-hour outage that disrupted streaming for tens of thousands of viewers on Friday night. The outage, which peaked with over 90,000 user reports on Downdetector, coincided with a highly anticipated boxing match featuring Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. According to Downdetector, fewer than 100 users were still experiencing issues as of early Saturday morning.
The video-streaming giant experienced significant disruptions during the event, a problem that has previously affected Netflix during major broadcasts. Last year, a live stream of the dating reality show Love is Blind also led to an outage, frustrating thousands of users who were tuning in. Such high-demand moments often lead to increased traffic, contributing to temporary platform issues.
When asked for comment, Netflix did not immediately respond. Outages during live or highly anticipated events have been a recurring issue for the platform, with spikes in traffic overwhelming the system at times.
