Neil Young and Chrome Hearts Confirm Glastonbury 2025 Headline After Initial Withdrawal Drama

In an exciting turn of events, Neil Young and his band, the Chrome Hearts, have officially confirmed they will headline the 2025 Glastonbury Festival after initially pulling out earlier this week.

The Canadian music legend clarified the situation in a statement on his website, the Neil Young Archives, stating the initial withdrawal was due to “an error in the information” he received. Young did not elaborate further but expressed his enthusiasm about returning to the iconic festival.

“Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary, and we look forward to playing!” Young wrote.

Emily Eavis, co-organizer of the Glastonbury Festival, shared her excitement on Instagram, writing: “What a start to the year! Neil Young is an artist who’s very close to our hearts at Glastonbury. He does things his own way, and that’s why we love him. We can’t wait to welcome him back to headline the Pyramid Stage in June.”

A Dramatic Week for Fans

Earlier in the week, Young had announced his decision to withdraw from the festival, citing concerns over what he described as the BBC’s “corporate control.”

“We were told that BBC was now a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in,” Young said in a statement. “It seems Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is not the way I remember it being.”

The BBC has been a broadcasting partner for Glastonbury since 1997, a relationship that has previously led to negotiations over the scope of artist performances broadcast to viewers. Young headlined the Pyramid Stage in 2009 alongside Bruce Springsteen and Blur, though only parts of his two-hour set were aired by the BBC at the time.

Glastonbury 2025: A Star-Studded Lineup

The festival, scheduled for June 25-29, has already sold out, with tickets disappearing in just 32 minutes. Neil Young joins Rod Stewart, who is set to perform in the coveted “Legends” slot, as one of the confirmed headliners for this year. The full lineup is yet to be announced, but last year’s headliners included Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and SZA, setting the bar high for 2025.

Fans of Neil Young and Glastonbury alike can look forward to a historic performance as the iconic artist returns to one of the world’s most celebrated music festivals.
