Canadian singer and five-time Grammy winner Michael Buble has partnered with the Florida Panthers to support cancer research through the team’s “Panthers on the Prowl” initiative. This fundraising campaign, created by Panthers hockey operations president Bill Zito and his wife Julie Zito, combines art and philanthropy to benefit the American Cancer Society. Donors can sponsor life-sized panther sculptures, which will be displayed across South Florida.
Buble emphasized the importance of the cause, stating cancer’s widespread impact and his desire to contribute alongside the NHL community. The project, launched in March, also involves contributions from renowned artist Romero Britto and NFL players Nick and Joey Bosa.
Inspired by Chicago’s “Cows on Parade” public art project, donors can customize their panther sculptures to help raise the team’s goal of at least US$1 million. With personal losses to cancer deeply motivating the Zitos, the initiative aims not just to meet fundraising goals but to unite the community in the fight against cancer.
