Mary Cosby and Husband Mourn Son Robert Jr., Who Died at 23

Mary Cosby, star of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, and her husband Robert Cosby Sr. have shared a statement following the death of their son, Robert Cosby Jr., who passed away on Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, at the age of 23.

In a statement shared with PEOPLE on Wednesday, Feb. 25, the couple said: “Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.” The statement was later shared on social media, where fans and members of the Bravo community offered condolences and support.

The Salt Lake City Police Department confirmed that authorities responded to a possible overdose following a “full arrest/medical emergency” call about Robert Jr. two days prior.

Bravo also released a statement: “We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Mary’s beloved son, Robert Jr. Mary is a cherished member of our family, and our thoughts, love, and deepest condolences are with her and her loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”

Executive producer and Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen wrote on Threads: “This is every parent’s worst nightmare. My heart is broken for Mary, and I am sending all my love to her and Robert Sr.”

Robert Jr. had been open about his struggles with drug addiction and mental health, sharing in season 5 of RHOSLC that he began using prescription and recreational drugs at 16. He had previously completed a month-long rehab stay and had recently been released from jail on Feb. 3, 2026, after serving time related to multiple arrests, including a DUI and other charges.

Mary Cosby had previously paid tribute to her son in a Feb. 7 Instagram post, writing: “#godfirst Love you all. My Beautiful Son… I love him sm❤️🙏.”

Robert Jr. also faced personal challenges, including a divorce filed by his wife Alexiana in November 2025, following three years of marriage. Despite his struggles, Mary expressed hope for him, saying in the RHOSLC season 6 reunion: “I know he’s somewhere where he’s not using… I have to step back so that Robert Jr. can learn.”
