Lewis Hamilton’s First Ferrari Drive: A Childhood Dream Fulfilled in Fiorano

Lewis Hamilton described driving a Ferrari for the first time as one of the most incredible moments of his life, fulfilling a childhood dream. The seven-time world champion took to Ferrari’s private Fiorano test track, completing 30 laps in foggy conditions in a 2023 Ferrari model.

Having recently turned 40, Hamilton embarks on this new chapter after his high-profile transfer from Mercedes, marking a historic shift in Formula One. The British driver, set to earn over £100 million during his two-year contract, expressed the emotional significance of this milestone: “Driving a Ferrari car for the first time this morning was one of the best feelings of my life.”

Hamilton’s maiden laps in Ferrari colors follow a whirlwind week at Maranello, where he met his new team and unveiled a yellow crash helmet, a nod to his early racing days. Fans, known as the Tifosi, gathered at Fiorano to catch a glimpse of the F1 legend in his iconic red overalls, which garnered 1.5 million Instagram likes within an hour.

As Hamilton prepares to chase a record-breaking eighth world championship, he reflected on the Ferrari team’s passion: “That passion runs through their veins, and you can’t help but be energized by it. I’m so grateful for the love I’ve felt from everyone in Maranello this week.”

Hamilton’s first race for Ferrari is scheduled for March 16 in Melbourne, with the unveiling of the 2024 car taking place on February 19 alongside teammate Charles Leclerc, who has been with Ferrari since 2019.
