Lewis Hamilton received a three-place grid penalty at the Monaco Grand Prix after impeding Max Verstappen, caused by incorrect information from his Ferrari engineer, Riccardo Adami. Hamilton expressed frustration over ongoing radio communication issues during the race.
“It was literally just, there were areas that we just had radio problems through the race. I didn’t get all the information that I wanted, and that was it,” Hamilton said after the race.
Despite speculation about tension between Hamilton and Adami, the seven-time world champion denied any problems with his engineer. “We have a great relationship. We don’t always get it right every weekend. We have disagreements like everyone does in relationships, but we work through them. We both want to win a championship together,” Hamilton emphasized.
Currently 98 points behind championship leader Oscar Piastri, Hamilton remains optimistic about his title chances. He hinted that the 2025 championship fight is still open, with hopes that new technical regulations, including flexi-wing clampdowns introduced at the Spanish Grand Prix, could help Ferrari improve.
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff suggested Ferrari stand to gain the most from the upcoming flexi-wing rules, a view Hamilton hopes proves true: “I hope he’s right.” Hamilton added, “If we can produce the progress we made in the last two races, it would be great.”
The Spanish Grand Prix weekend promises intense competition with practice sessions and qualifying scheduled from May 30 to June 1, all available live on Sky Sports F1.
