Kayle Osborne Secures First Shutout as New York Sirens Blank Ottawa Charge

Kayle Osborne delivered a stellar performance in her professional debut near her hometown, securing her first career shutout with 31 saves in the New York Sirens’ 3-0 victory over the Ottawa Charge on Monday night.

Osborne, originally from Barrhaven, a suburb of Ottawa, had the support of friends and family in attendance. Now residing in Westport, Ont., the goaltender anchored the Sirens to victory with solid defensive backing.

The Sirens (4-3-1-4) took control early with two first-period goals, then added a power-play tally in the third for insurance. The win marked New York’s first triumph against the Charge (5-0-2-6) this season, after falling short in two previous matchups.

Chloe Aurard opened the scoring on New York’s first shot, benefiting from a misdirected deflection off Ottawa goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer. Alex Carpenter followed up with a power-play goal later in the first, converting a behind-the-back pass from Jessie Eldridge.

The Sirens sealed the win in the third with another power-play goal. Eldridge’s initial pass attempt deflected off a defender’s skate and returned to her stick, allowing her to score her fourth of the season.

Ottawa’s Maschmeyer made 17 saves but received minimal offensive support, with the Charge struggling to create significant scoring opportunities. Katerina Mrazova returned to Ottawa’s lineup after missing five games with a lower-body injury but was unable to spark the team’s offense.
