Julianne Moore expressed her enduring affection for Toronto this week, joking that she might move there someday. In an interview with CTV’s Your Morning, the Academy Award-winning actress reminisced about launching her career in the city nearly four decades ago.
“I love Toronto,” Moore said when asked what she considered uniquely Canadian. “I’ve been working there for years. One of my very first jobs was in Toronto in the mid-’80s,” referencing her role in the 1987 miniseries I’ll Take Manhattan.
Now starring in the Netflix dark comedy series Sirens, Moore praised the transformation she’s witnessed in Toronto over the years, calling it “incredibly diverse and multicultural.” She added, “There’s so much to do there, and the food is excellent. It’s just a lovely place to be.”
Moore’s connection with Toronto has only grown stronger since her early days. She returned for major roles in Atom Egoyan’s Chloe (2009) and David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars (2014).
“Every time I’ve worked up there, I’ve worked with so many talented actors and great crew members. I always feel very much at home there,” she said.
