The Winnipeg Jets are on the brink of making franchise history after a commanding 4-0 victory over the Dallas Stars on Thursday night. With just one point needed from their final three games, the Jets are poised to clinch both their division and conference titles for the first time since NHL hockey arrived in Winnipeg.
Kyle Connor netted two goals and Mark Scheifele reached a career-high 85 points, while Connor Hellebuyck delivered his eighth shutout of the season with 25 saves—his 45th win, breaking his own franchise record and inching closer to the all-time NHL single-season win mark.
Jets head coach Scott Arniel praised his team’s consistency, saying, “There was a lot of guys doing what they needed to do to help us have success.” Winnipeg extended its franchise record to 54 wins and 112 points, just two shy of the all-time team record.
The Jets’ physical dominance was on full display, notching a season-high 44 hits and shutting down Dallas offensively in a critical four-point game. Josh Morrissey added two assists and lauded Hellebuyck’s elite form, calling it “something special.”
Returning from injury, Nikolaj Ehlers showed grit with a fight and two shots on goal in nearly 20 minutes of ice time. Goals from Nino Niederreiter, Morgan Barron, and two from Connor—his 40th of the season—sealed the victory as Winnipeg locked down defensively in the third period.
With their sights set on a historic milestone, the Jets aim to wrap it up Saturday night in Chicago against the Blackhawks.
