JetBlue and United Launch ‘Blue Sky’ Partnership for Loyalty Benefits and Expanded Flight Access

JetBlue Airways and United Airlines have announced a new partnership called “Blue Sky” that offers reciprocal loyalty benefits such as priority boarding and complimentary preferred seat access. The collaboration, confirmed Thursday, follows earlier reports of negotiations between the two carriers.

Under the agreement, JetBlue and United will integrate flight bookings on each other’s websites and apps, aiming to streamline customer experiences. United will gain coveted access to JFK International Airport with up to seven daily round-trip flights starting in 2027, while both airlines will swap eight flight timings at Newark Liberty International Airport.

JetBlue has been pursuing a new alliance since a court ruled in 2023 that its Northeast Alliance with American Airlines must end due to antitrust concerns. A later merger attempt with Spirit Airlines also failed after regulatory pushback.

Despite the announcement, JetBlue shares dipped nearly 3% and have dropped around 35% in 2025. United shares rose nearly 2% but remain down about 20% year-to-date.
