Israeli Bombardment of Lebanon Escalates with Dozen Air Raids on Beirut Suburbs
The Israeli military’s bombardment of Lebanon continued into Saturday morning, following a series of airstrikes across the country, including at least a dozen overnight raids on Beirut’s southern suburbs. The National News Agency of Lebanon (NNA) confirmed the strikes targeted residential areas in the Dahiyeh region, leaving behind widespread destruction.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued warnings to residents in the southern suburbs, urging them not to return to their homes. “The IDF airstrikes are ongoing. For your safety and the safety of your families, do not return to your homes until further notice,” Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson, wrote on X (formerly Twitter). This marks the seventh consecutive day of Israeli airstrikes in Beirut’s southern areas, which the IDF claims are linked to Hezbollah operations.
Adraee issued multiple evacuation warnings throughout the night, specifying areas near Hezbollah facilities that were marked for targeted strikes. Residents were urged to leave immediately as the airstrikes approached.
In addition to the air raids in Beirut, NNA reported Israeli strikes in several other regions, including the Beqaa Valley in eastern Lebanon, the coastal city of Tyre, and southern communities near the Israeli border. These areas have been under continuous bombardment as tensions between Israel and Hezbollah escalate.
The Israeli military’s warnings indicate that these attacks are part of an ongoing campaign against Hezbollah-linked targets in Lebanon, further intensifying the conflict in the region.
The latest round of airstrikes adds to a week of heightened military actions between Israel and Hezbollah, with growing concerns over the humanitarian impact on Lebanese civilians. As the conflict rages on, international observers have raised alarms about the escalating violence and its potential for destabilizing the broader region.
Both sides remain locked in a tense standoff, with further hostilities expected as Israel continues to strike Hezbollah-linked sites. As the situation develops, the calls for international intervention to mediate the conflict grow louder.
