Israel Blocks Thousands of Palestinians From Returning to Northern Gaza Amid Ceasefire Violations

Lebanon Sees Rising Death Toll as Israeli Forces Delay Withdrawal; Palestinian Groups Condemn Trump’s Relocation Proposal

Israel has blocked hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians from returning to their homes in northern Gaza, leading to accusations from Hamas that the Israeli government is violating a ceasefire agreement. The move comes as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens, with aid groups warning of worsening conditions for those stranded in the south.

Israeli Forces Delay Withdrawal From Southern Lebanon

Meanwhile, in southern Lebanon, at least 15 people, including a Lebanese soldier, were killed after the Israeli military opened fire. This escalation occurred on the day Israel was scheduled to begin withdrawing its forces under a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah. The deaths have fueled tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, where cross-border exchanges between Hezbollah and Israeli forces have intensified since the war in Gaza began in October 2023.

Palestinian Groups Reject Trump’s Relocation Proposal

Palestinian groups have strongly condemned former U.S. President Donald Trump’s suggestion that Palestinians in Gaza should be relocated to Egypt and Jordan. The proposal has sparked outrage among Palestinian leaders, who view it as an attempt to forcefully displace the population rather than address the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

The criticism comes as the newly inaugurated U.S. President has reversed his predecessor’s decision to halt the shipment of heavy bombs to Israel. The resumption of arms deliveries raises concerns about the continued escalation of violence in the region, particularly as civilian casualties in Gaza mount.

West Bank Raids Continue, Two Killed in Jenin

In the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces have intensified military operations around the city of Jenin. At least two people, including a two-year-old girl, were killed in the latest raid. These military incursions have been ongoing for months, with the Israeli army claiming they are targeting armed groups, while Palestinians say the operations have led to widespread destruction and civilian deaths.

Rising Death Toll in Gaza and Israel

Since the outbreak of Israel’s war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, the Palestinian death toll has reached at least 47,283, with 111,472 wounded, according to local health authorities. The conflict began after Hamas-led attacks on Israel killed 1,139 people and led to the capture of more than 200 hostages.

With ongoing airstrikes, ground operations, and humanitarian restrictions, international pressure continues to mount for a lasting ceasefire and a resolution to the war. However, as Israel tightens its grip on Gaza and continues operations in the West Bank and Lebanon, prospects for de-escalation remain uncertain.
