Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur has urged the team to unlock the full potential of their SF-25 car ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix following a rough start to the 2025 season.
The Italian squad suffered a disastrous double disqualification in China, leaving them fifth in the Constructors’ standings with just 17 points—Ferrari’s worst start to a season since 2009. Despite moments of promise, including Lewis Hamilton’s Sprint victory in Shanghai, Ferrari has struggled to maintain consistency, with neither Hamilton nor Charles Leclerc finishing in the top four in a full-length Grand Prix.
“As for everyone in the team, now more than ever, we must focus on ourselves with the goal of enabling Charles and Lewis to consistently exploit the full potential of the SF-25,” said Vasseur. “Formula 1 is all about details, from race weekend preparation to execution on track.”
With McLaren leading the championship by 61 points, Ferrari faces a crucial weekend in Suzuka to bounce back from their setbacks. Sky Sports F1 analyst Ted Kravitz emphasized the importance of Ferrari’s response after what Italian media called a “calamitous weekend” in China.
Hamilton remains optimistic about Ferrari’s direction after his Sprint success, but with the Scuderia lagging behind Williams in the standings, they need a strong performance in Japan to get their championship hopes back on track.
