Ex-Olympian Ryan Wedding: U.S. Indictment Reveals Decade-Long Fugitive’s Role in $1 Billion Drug Empire and Grisly Killings

Newly unsealed court records reveal U.S. authorities learned the location of fugitive ex-Olympian Ryan Wedding during a covert January meeting in Mexico City. The Canadian snowboarder, known for his involvement in a vast transnational drug trafficking network, has evaded capture for nearly a decade despite facing serious charges, including murder and drug trafficking.

According to Ontario court records obtained by CBC, U.S. officials tracked Wedding, the alleged leader of a $1 billion drug ring, to Mexico, where he allegedly met with accomplices, including his “second in command,” Andrew Clark. The former Olympian and his associate are said to have connections to the infamous Sinaloa Cartel. The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

The indictment, released last week, charges Wedding and Clark with orchestrating numerous crimes, including a mistaken revenge killing in Caledon, Ontario, linked to a stolen cocaine shipment. Court documents reveal further connections to violent incidents across Canada, including the recent shooting death of Randy Fader in Niagara Falls.

U.S. and Canadian authorities, including the RCMP, are intensifying efforts to locate Wedding. The former athlete has been on the RCMP’s radar since 2015, when his involvement in large-scale drug trafficking became apparent.
