Ethiopia Health Crisis – MSF Raises Alarm Over Rapidly Spreading Cholera Outbreak
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, has issued an urgent warning about a rapidly spreading cholera outbreak in Ethiopia, which has already claimed the lives of at least 31 people. The humanitarian organization is calling for immediate intervention to prevent further fatalities and contain the disease’s spread.
According to MSF, the outbreak has affected multiple regions, with a sharp rise in cases due to inadequate access to clean water, poor sanitation, and overwhelmed healthcare facilities. Cholera, a highly contagious waterborne disease, spreads rapidly in areas with limited hygiene infrastructure, making Ethiopia particularly vulnerable amid ongoing humanitarian challenges.
Medical teams on the ground report that hospitals and treatment centers are struggling to cope with the influx of patients, with shortages of medical supplies further complicating the response efforts.
