Charlotte Le Bon Steps Back from Acting to Focus on Directing, Teases Possible Return to “White Lotus”

Following her breakout role as Chloe in Season 3 of HBO’s hit dramedy “White Lotus,” Montreal’s Charlotte Le Bon is turning down a wave of acting offers to focus on filmmaking. Recently back from the Cannes Film Festival, Le Bon is developing her second feature — an untitled, autobiographical Montreal-shot drama centered on themes of grief. She describes it as “a very personal movie” aiming to explore loss through a light-hearted lens.

Speaking in Toronto during Bell Media’s 2025/26 showcase, Le Bon reflected on her shift away from acting despite a strong career with roles alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Christian Bale. Her directorial debut “Falcon Lake” premiered at Cannes in 2023 to critical acclaim, reinforcing her passion behind the camera.

Yet her role in “White Lotus” came just as she was considering a break from acting. The opportunity to play a socially savvy French-Canadian expat opposite the show’s main antagonist Greg was too compelling to pass up. Although not currently focused on acting, Le Bon is open to returning for Season 4, hinting Chloe could become Greg’s accomplice or even deliver his karmic reckoning.

Le Bon says acting only draws her back if a role has a unique or “weird” element that truly inspires her.
