Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” has climbed to No. 1 on Canada’s Hot AC chart dated May 17, overtaking ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ “APT.” which previously held the top position for seven consecutive weeks.
Although radio is where the track has reached the summit, it has been a strong performer across various charts. It remains at No. 2 on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100 for the sixth consecutive week and peaked at No. 4 on the U.S. Hot 100 (chart dated April 26).
Initially released in 2020, the five-year-old single entered the Hot AC chart at No. 37 on February 22 following Roan’s Grammy Awards performance. It later featured on her 2023 debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, gaining momentum as her career surged.
Other notable movements on this week’s chart include Canadian artist Alexander Stewart’s “His Problem Instead” hitting a new high at No. 9, after entering the top 10 last week. Four new songs debuted on the chart, two of which are by Canadian artists.
John Fellner debuts the highest with “Broke Skin” at No. 34. The track also rises to No. 31 on the CHR/Top 40. Toronto’s LU KALA makes her entry with “Cry Baby” at No. 37, marking its 17th week on the CHR/Top 40.
Additional debuts include Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther” (No. 39) and Mumford and Sons’ “Rushmere” (No. 40).
French-language music also sees a boost on the Canada AC chart. Clément James and Marie-Mai debut at No. 30 with “Picture (v.f.),” a French version of the Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow duet. It joins Ariane Moffatt’s “Jouer” at No. 23, marking the third consecutive week with two French songs on the chart, following last week’s debut of “Merci ben!” by Les Cowboys Fringants.
