R&B singer Cassie Ventura testified Wednesday that her former partner, Sean “Diddy” Combs, kept her trapped in a cycle of abuse by threatening to release videos of humiliating sex acts he arranged. In Combs’ federal sex trafficking trial in Manhattan, Cassie described being coerced into “freak-off” encounters with male sex workers, driven by fear of career and personal ruin if she defied him.
Visibly emotional, Cassie said she continued to engage in acts that left her “disgusted and humiliated” because Combs threatened her image and safety. Prosecutors allege Combs used his music industry power to coerce and abuse women, including drug-fueled sex parties across cities like Miami, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. He faces five federal charges including sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion.
Cassie detailed how she recruited sex workers at Combs’ request and described her struggles with opioid addiction developed during this period. On Wednesday, she identified at least 13 male escorts involved and recounted physical abuse, including a violent 2016 hotel assault caught on camera. The court is expected to view some of the sex tapes, but they will remain sealed from public view.
Combs’ attorneys admit to past violence but argue the acts were consensual and deny all trafficking allegations. The defense began cross-examining Cassie Wednesday in an attempt to challenge her testimony. The trial continues and could last up to two months. If convicted, Combs faces a minimum of 15 years in prison.
