Canadian Airports Shine in 2024 ASQ Awards: Toronto Pearson, St. John’s, and Victoria International Recognized for Excellence

Passengers have cast their votes, and Pearson International Airport (YYZ), St. John’s International Airport (YYT), and Victoria International Airport (YYJ) have received top honours from Airports Council International (ACI). ACI World has announced the winners of the 2024 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards, presented in partnership with travel technology company Amadeus, recognizing the best airports globally based on passenger experience. Categories include Most Enjoyable Airport, Cleanest Airport, Easiest Airport Journey, and Most Dedicated Staff. Determined solely by traveller feedback, a record-breaking 181 honours were given to 95 airports worldwide.

Toronto Pearson claimed the title of Best Airport Over 40 Million Passengers in North America for the second consecutive year and the seventh time in eight years. “This achievement is a direct reflection of the passion and dedication of our employees, who show up every day and every night, demonstrating their commitment to our customers and delivering excellence,” said Deborah Flint, President and CEO of Toronto Pearson. According to ACI, the ASQ Awards evaluate airports based on real-time passenger surveys, with almost 700,000 travellers participating in 2024. “In today’s fast-evolving world, where passenger expectations are higher than ever, airports must continually push the boundaries of service to stay ahead,” noted ACI Director General Justin Erbacci.

St. John’s International Airport and Victoria International Airport earned the 2024 ASQ award for Best Airport Under 2 Million Passengers in North America. YYT stated that the recognition is based on feedback from over 1,400 passenger surveys conducted at the airport. “As Newfoundland and Labrador’s primary gateway to the world, we take great pride in delivering an exceptional passenger experience,” said Dennis Hogan, Chief Executive Officer of the St. John’s International Airport Authority. YYT previously won Most Improved Airport in North America for Customer Experience in 2019. The airports will be officially recognized at the annual ASQ Awards Ceremony in September 2025 during ACI World’s Airport Experience Summit in Guangzhou, China.
