Bulldozers and other excavation equipment have been seen moving towards the Nasarawa Palace, the residence of Aminu Ado Bayero, the deposed 15th Emir of Kano State.

This follows Friday’s action by security forces to block all entrances to the mini palace, reportedly to prevent chaos during the planned demolition.

The Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, has directed law enforcement to remove Aminu Ado from the Nasarawa Palace.

Officials claim the palace is slated for demolition to make it possible for reconstruction and renovation.

The State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Haruna Isa Dederi, alongside the Secretary to the State Government Baffa Bichi, announced this decision during a press conference at the government house.

Dederi said that Bayero is trespassing on government property and that the State Commissioner of Police has been instructed to remove him.

The Commissioner also said that Muhammadu Sanusi II remains the 16th Emir of Kano. He urged citizens to maintain peace, citing a recent court order that he claims validated the state government’s dissolution of the five emirates.
