Boeing’s January Deliveries Soar, Marking Strongest Start Since 2019

Boeing’s January deliveries surged to 45 aircraft, a significant jump from 30 in December and the highest monthly total since 2023. This marks the company’s strongest January performance since 2019, fueled by 40 deliveries of the 737 MAX, compared to 25 last year. This positive trend follows a seven-week strike last fall and increased regulatory scrutiny after a 737 MAX 9 incident.

Key deliveries included 737 MAX jets to United Airlines (7), Southwest Airlines (5), and several Chinese carriers (Shenzhen Airlines, 9 Air, Shandong Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, and two to Air China).

Boeing also delivered four 787s, including the first to TAAG Angola, and a 777 freighter to Ethiopian Airlines. The company secured 36 new orders (34 for 737 MAX, two for 777 freighters) and added 42 net orders to its backlog (33 for 737 MAX, two for 777 freighters, and seven for 787s) after accounting adjustments.

While January’s figures are impressive, new orders are down from December’s 142. A Boeing executive recently stated there’s insufficient demand in India to justify a local assembly line.
