Bell Canada has announced an ambitious expansion of its artificial intelligence infrastructure with plans to open six state-of-the-art AI data centres across British Columbia. The initiative is part of the telecom giant’s newly launched Bell AI Fabric, a strategic platform designed to support the country’s growing demand for advanced data processing, machine learning, and AI-powered solutions.
This significant investment underscores Bell’s commitment to positioning Canada as a global leader in AI and digital transformation, while also boosting local economies with new infrastructure and job opportunities.
The AI data centres will be strategically located throughout B.C. to maximize operational efficiency and connectivity, leveraging Bell’s existing fibre and 5G networks. According to the company, the facilities will offer scalable, high-performance computing environments tailored to serve industries such as healthcare, finance, autonomous transportation, smart cities, and advanced manufacturing.

The centres will feature cutting-edge technologies, including liquid cooling systems, energy-efficient computing clusters, and secure AI model training environments. Bell also emphasized its focus on sustainability, noting that the data centres will be powered in part by clean energy sources, aligning with the company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.
This move comes as Canada experiences rapid growth in AI research and commercial applications. With Vancouver already emerging as a technology hub, British Columbia presents a strategic location for AI infrastructure investment.
Industry experts have welcomed Bell’s announcement, citing the importance of domestic infrastructure in ensuring data sovereignty and enabling faster, more reliable AI deployment within Canada’s borders.

Construction on the first of the six data centres is expected to begin later this year, with full deployment scheduled over the next 24 to 36 months.
