The World Travel Awards (WTA) is set to host its first-ever Grand Final Gala Ceremony in Bahrain, marking a major milestone for the Kingdom’s tourism industry. Scheduled for December 9, 2025, the prestigious event will take place at Exhibition World Bahrain, bringing together leading figures from the global travel and tourism sectors.
Bahrain’s selection as the host aligns with its rising prominence as a key tourism hub, with the industry expected to contribute 11.4% to the nation’s GDP by 2026. The archipelago of 33 islands in the Arabian Gulf has long been a strategic commercial and cultural crossroads, now evolving into a prime destination for business and leisure travelers alike.
Manama, Bahrain’s dynamic capital, offers a rich blend of history, shopping, and entertainment. Visitors can explore sites like the Bahrain Fort, artisan markets, and a thriving arts scene. With a mix of luxury venues and cultural heritage, Bahrain is also emerging as a sought-after destination for weddings and international events.
Exhibition World Bahrain plays a pivotal role in the Kingdom’s economic expansion, positioning Bahrain as a leading MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) destination. The WTA Grand Final will mark the culmination of the WTA Grand Tour 2025, which features regional ceremonies in Dar es Salaam, Cancún, Hong Kong, and Dubai.
WTA Founder Graham Cooke expressed excitement about Bahrain’s debut as a host, calling it an “emerging destination with incredible tourism potential.” Sarah Ahmed Buhiji, CEO of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, highlighted the significance of hosting the WTA Grand Final as a major step in cementing Bahrain’s global reputation in the MICE sector.
Voting for the World Travel Awards 2025 is currently open in multiple regions, with additional categories set to launch on April 1.
